Darren Berg
PRESIDENT
Darren Berg is currently President of BC-IAAI and has previously served on the Executive Committee for many years. Darren has a B.A. in Criminology and is an Executive General Adjuster at Crawford.
His areas of expertise include handling of large loss liability, property damage and bodily injury claims.

Timothy Lee
FIRST VICE PRESIDENT
Timothy Lee is a Past President of BC-IAAI and is currently First Vice President. He is a private Fire Investigator with Pario.
Tim has over 25 years of related fire service experience and has been involved in the investigation of over 700 fires. In addition to his volunteer involvement with BC-IAAI he serves as the Vice President of Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue Society and is an active Search and Rescue volunteer.

Alan Millbank
SECOND VICE PRESIDENT
Alan is a Captain & Chief Fire Prevention Officer with the City of Nanaimo Fire Rescue Department and currently the 2nd vice president for the BC-IAAI.
He has 20 years of fire service experience 15 of those have been in fire prevention. Alan holds NFPA 1033, NAFI CFEI and CFII designations, IAAI CI and FIT designations and is a GiFireE member of the Institute of Fire Engineers. Alan has investigated over 500 fires and was qualified as an expert witness at the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Alan has assisted RCMP and various other agencies and jurisdictions in his region with fire investigations.

Matthew Wood
SECRETARY
Matt Wood is the Secretary of BC-IAAI and a private fire investigator and Professional Engineer, licensed in both British Columbia and Ontario.
Matt currently works out of Vancouver for Roar Engineering Inc. He holds the CFEI, CVFI, and CFII designations from NAFI and has independently completed over 900 fire investigations.

Glenn Danks
PAST PRESIDENT
Glenn Danks has been a Director of Chapter 15 since 2008, and served as President from 2021 to 2024. He currently holds the rank of Assistant Chief – Public Safety and Technology with the District of North Vancouver Fire Rescue Service where he leads the Fire Prevention team and manages the department's technological systems.
He is an NFPA 1033 Certified Fire Investigator and IAAI certified Fire Investigation Technician. He completed an Associate of Science Degree at Capilano University, followed by an Electronics Engineering Technology diploma from BCIT, and is also an Inter-Provincially Qualified Automotive Mechanic.

Josiah lee
TREASURER
Josiah Lee is our Treasurer of the board. He is a CFEI, CFII and IAAI-FIT. He is currently a Field Adjuster at Sedgwick Canada Inc.
Josiah originally brought UAV Documentation to fire scenes in British Columbia through a blanket special flight operations certificate for the pacific region in 2016.

Chris Reed
DIRECTOR / PAST PRESIDENT
Chris is a Professional Engineer and private fire investigator with Reed Engineering Consultants. He has over 27 years of experience in Chemical Engineering, firefighting, and fire science. He is currently a Director and immediate Past President of BC Chapter 15 IAAI.
Chris first joined IAAI Chapter 15 as a director in 2008 and has provided training at many of our chapter training events, as well as to our neighbour Washington State IAAI Chapter, Washington State Fire Training Academy, Washington State Fire Marshals Fire Prevention Institute, the Fire Prevention Officers of BC, and to the International Symposium on Fire Investigation.

Ray Bryant
DIRECTOR
Ray Bryant became a Director of BC Chapter 15 IAAI in 2013. Ray is a retired member of Vancouver Fire Rescue Services, after serving 36 years.
He has investigated over 1000 fires and 25 fatalities while serving in the position of shift investigator, Captain, and Assistant Chief of Investigations. Ray holds FPOA level 1 and 2 certificates as well as a CFEI certification.

Glen Edwards
REGIONAL DIRECTOR - NORTH
DIRECTOR - TRAININGGlen Edwards is a director of BC-IAAI and a Constable at the RCMP.
He spent three years in the infantry reserve and five working as a volunteer firefighter while completing an undergraduate degree in criminology. He has been a plainclothes police investigator (detective) for the last twelve years. He began investigating fires in 2011 and has had fire investigations as part of his core duties since 2015.
He is currently working on his thesis research project for a master’s degree in emergency management that combines his interests in fire science, social science, emergency management, and community resilience.

Michael Lejeune
DIRECTOR
Mike Lejeune was the 2nd Vice President of BC-IAAI and is currently a Director and member of the Training Committee. Mike works at Jensen Hughes Consulting as a Senior Forensic Engineer and he has over 15 years of experience investigating fires and explosions.
He is a Professional Engineer and a NAFI Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. He has published papers on topics related to fire investigation and has presented at industry seminars both locally and internationally. In addition to forensic engineering, he has experience related to fire and life safety code consulting, fire behaviour, dust explosion risk assessment, and failure analysis.

Shirley Niven
DIRECTOR
Shirely is a director of BC-IAAI and the Principal of Pheonix Forensics.
She is a licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer, Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, Certified Wildland Fire Investigator, and Wildland Fire Behaviour Specialist.
With over 20 years of experience in fire behaviour and fire investigation, she has been involved in over 750 fire investigations, including structural, vehicle, marine, industrial and wildland fires. Shirley has also been involved in hundreds of evidence examinations into the the failure or malfunction of appliances and machinery which resulted in either fires or water losses.

Mike Richards
REGIONAL DIRECTOR - INTERIOR
Mike is currently Serving as a Director for the BC-IAAI Chapter 15 and is a contract Origin and Cause Investigator for Advanced Investigative Solutions. He is participating in research projects for National Research Council of Canada and FireSmart BC.
Mike served 38 years with the Penticton Fire Department and retired in April of 2020 as Captain/FPO. He is a Certified Fire Inspector II NFPA 1031, Fire Investigator NFPA 1033, Fire Service Instructor II NFPA 1041, and Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist II NFPA 1035 ll, all IFSAC/ProBoard Accredited. Certified IAAI-FIT, CCFI-C.

Arjun Sethi
DIRECTOR
Arjun Sethi is a Forensic Engineer at Jensen Hughes and a Director of BC-IAAI. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in BC, and a NAFI Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator.
Arjun conducts fire and explosion investigations of structures and vehicles, post-incident code review, and evidence examinations of electrical and mechanical appliances focusing on fire causation. He also assists with Fire Protection Engineering projects including fire alarm testing, code analysis, and fire protection of adjacent buildings during construction.

Ashley Beckman
DIRECTOR
Ashley Beckman is the Manager of Materials and Mechanical Engineering at Pario Engineering and Environmental Sciences and a Director of BC-IAAI. She is a licensed Professional Engineer with EGBC and APEGA and a NAFI Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Vehicle Fire Investigator.
Ashley has worked in the field of forensic engineering and materials testing for over fifteen years and fire and explosion investigation for over twelve years. During this time she has conducted fire and explosion investigations of structures, vehicles and large equipment and completed many component examinations.

Pamela Vinh
DIRECTOR
Pamela Vinh is a Forensic Identification Specialist with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Pamela started as an investigator for the RCMP in 2004, specializing in major crime investigations since 2007. In 2016, Pamela trained regionally in fire origin and cause investigation for both wildland and structure fires. Since 2019, Pamela has specialized in crime scene investigation, exhibit collection and handling, and fingerprint friction ridge impression analysis. Pamela enjoys the continued learning involved with fire origin and cause investigation as well as continuing to expand her knowledge of the forensic capabilities in areas of fire investigation.

Nate Bestward
DIRECTOR
Nate is the Principal of Ignite Forensics and a Director of BC-IAAI. He has conducted thousands of fire investigations for insurers.
